Whitney Houston: Where Is The All-Star Tribute CD?

After Luther Vandross suffered a severe stroke on April 16, 2003, jazz label Verve Music also released a tribute album to Vandross. The CD was mixed by Ray Bardani, who recorded and mixed most of Luther’s music over the years.

Their collection, “Forever, For Always, For Luther” included the late crooner’s hits performed by Kirk Whalum (‘Any Love’), Paul Jackson, Jr. (‘Never Too Much’), Boney James (‘Wait For Love’), Lalah Hathaway (‘Forever, For Always, For Love’), Mindi Abair (‘Stop To Love’), Dave Koz (‘If Only For One Night’), Ledisi (‘My Sensitivity [Gets In The Way]), Richard Elliott (‘Your Secret Love’), George Benson (‘Take You Out’) and Rick Braun (‘Dance With My Father’).

Hathaway’s version of ‘Forever, For Always, For Love’ became her first number one single and has become one of her signature songs.

When the 54-year-old crooner died in 2005, two more tribute CDs were released.

Whitney Houston

It’s been two and a half years since Whitney Houston died on Feb. 11, 2011 and there hasn’t been any tribute albums done.

AlwaysAList.com was wondering why neither music mogul Davis nor the Houston estate had not worked on assembling a group of divas to salute the woman known as The Voice!

Since no one else has done it, we decided to take it upon ourselves to compile the perfect combination of singers and songs that celebrate the iconic music by the late vocal legend. The women below are divas that influenced Houston; were her personal friends; artists that she mentored; and vocalists that she herself  was a fan of.[divider]
