Soft Start: “The Real” Lands Low Ratings

The premiere of “The Real” is off to a slow start.

The new ensemble daytime talk show hosted by Loni Love, Tamar Braxton, Tamera Mowry-Housley, Jeannie Mai and Adrienne Bailon earned less-than-stellar ratings with its debut episode.

The syndicated chat show premiered on Monday and only landed a 0.9 rating.  Those numbers put the show 40-percent below its lead-in.

Additionally, “The Real” dropped 10-percent compared to the shows it replaced in timeslots this year.

“The Real” airs in national syndicated on Fox-affiliated stations and repeats on BET.

Expectation for the show was high going into the Fall 2014 season, as the show performed exceptionally strong in its four-week test run on Fox-owned stations in select markets in July 2013.  Its preview run out-performed Kris Jenner’s talk show pilot, which ultimately did not get picked up.

“The Real” is the first talk show with an all minority lineup of hosts.
