TV Turnover: Big Changes At “Entertainment Tonight”

There are some major changes happening at “Entertainment Tonight.”

The long-running syndicated news magazine series announced in August that anchor Rob Marciano would be exiting the show after just 18 months on the job.  He was replaced by Kevin Frazier, who was the host of “E.T.’s” sister show “The Insider.”

Nischelle Turner

Now, TheWrap.com is reporting that “E.T.” has hired Nischelle Turner.  Though the show will not confirm it, network insiders revealed that the former CNN Entertainment correspondent has signed on to join the highly-rated series as a daily correspondent and will begin appearing on air in time for November sweeps.

Turner joined CNN’s sister channel HLN in December 2011 and worked on the entertainment series, “Showbiz Tonight.”

The Columbia, Missouri-bred TV talent then moved over to CNN and relocated to New York City to contribute segments on CNN’s upstart morning program “New Day.”  Turner departs CNN as reports of the network facing all-time lows in the ratings heat up.

There are also unconfirmed reports that Rocsi Diaz is no longer with “Entertainment Tonight”

The former host of BET’s “106 & Park” joined “E.T.” as a daily correspondent and weekend co-anchor in Jan. 2013.

The changes to “E.T.” on-air talent are the result of the show’s new executive producer, Brad Bessey.

FUN FACT: Both Nischelle Turner and Rocsi Diaz have been romantically linked to Oscar nominee Eddie Murphy.

Rocsi Diaz & Eddie Murphy

Turner made headlines back in 2008 after being spotting leaving a Las Vegas casino hand-in-hand with the comedy legend.

In the summer of 2012, Diaz began a brief courtship with Murphy as well. In a surprising turn, the TV host was able to get the often reclusive comic to attend several parties with her and pose for red carpet photos.[divider]

UPDATED: Rocsi Diaz has confirmed her departure from “Entertainment Tonight. She will leave the show in January, two months after Turner’s expected start date.

“As both Rocsi and ‘E.T.’ have grown and evolved over the years, she has elected to pursue hosting opportunities that are available to her at the start of next year. Until then, she will continue to bring her usual brand of Rocsi-style entertainment interviews to ‘E.T.,'” a statement from a show rep read.
