Grey’s Anatomy” newcomer Kelly McCreary has been promoted to series regular on the long-running hit ABC medical drama.

McCreary appeared on two episodes last season on the Shonda Rhimes-produced series, and all four during the new 11th season.

The 33-year-old actress plays Dr. Maggie Pierce, the new head of Cardiothoracic Surgery and half-sister to Meredith Grey (Ellen Pomeo) and love child of her late mom Dr. Ellis Grey and Dr. Richard Webber (James Pickens Jr.).
