After nearly an eight-year hiatus from television, Judge Mablean Ephriam is back and better than ever with a new syndicated court series called “Justice with Judge Mablean.”
The daily court show made an impressive debut in September, reuniting the former “Divorce Court” judge back with the viewers who missed her much.
This time around, the 65-year-old former Los Angeles prosecuting attorney isn’t just dealing with relationship woes, but she gets to oversee a variety of legal issues from the colorful litigants who enter her court room.
AlwaysAList.com recently spoke to Judge Mablean about her big return to television and got her to talk about hot topics like Ray Rice and Honey Boo Boo’s Mama June.[divider]
Your new show “Justice with Judge Mablean” premiered this fall. How does it feel to be back?
It feels great to be back on daytime television. I am so happy to reconnect with my fans and do what I am destined to do: entertain, motivate, educate and stimulate. I feel that I am where I am supposed to be, doing what I am supposed to do.

What’s been the most interesting court issue you handled on “Justice with Judge Mablean” so far?
The most interesting court issue to date has been the case of a religious, fanatical Christian mother who kicked her 13-year-old child out of her house to the streets or wherever because she has chosen to be in a relationship with women.
Are there any celebrity justice matters in the news that you would like to see handled on your TV show?
Yes I would love to handle the Ray Rice issue if domestic violence and his termination of employment for same; his wife’s anger at the public and media and her decision to marry him after such conduct.
You specialized in divorce matters on your previous show; do you think Ray Rice and his wife should stay together? What advice would you give them?
I believe that Ray Rice and his wife should separate and go into counseling. Ray needs counseling for anger management and conflict resolution and his own insecurities. He needs to learn alternative ways to communicate anger, disappointment, etc. The wife needs counseling in self-esteem, self-love, co-dependency and also anger management.

Honey Boo Boo’s mother Mama June has been romantically linked to a convicted child sex offender that spent years in prison for assaulting her daughter. If this drama ended up in your court, what you suggest happen here?
I most likely would consider removing Honey Boo Boo from her mother’s custody with concern about child endangerment.
What separates “Justice with Judge Mablean” from the other court shows on TV?
Judge Mablean separates me from other court shows! My personality, my wisdom, my life experiences, my wit, my being relatable, my frankness, sincerity, honesty, no-nonsense and my transparency. I call it like I see it! I cut through the surface bull to get to the real issue. Judge Mablean is unique.[divider]
