Relocation: Roland Martin Finds New Partner For Radio Show
TV newsman and political pundit Roland Martin is moving his syndicated radio show “The Roland Martin Show” to a new network.
Martin’s Nu Vision Media has inked a deal with the Empowerment Radio Network for his talk radio show that was previously distributed by Radio One’s Reach Media.
“The Roland Martin Show” is a daily radio program that covers breaking news, political topics, pop culture and entertainment. The 46-year-old talent hosts the show from Washington, DC live from 10am to 1pm ET in over 20 markets throughout the U.S.
“Radio is a tremendously powerful medium. It allows me to get up close and personal with the audience, and to hear what is happening on the ground around the country,” said Martin. “I am excited to own my show, and to grow it in partnership with David [Anderson of Empowerment Radio Network]. It’s time to #bringthefunk!”

The talk radio show will follow his daily TV One news series, “News One Now with Roland Martin,” which airs from 9am to 10am ET. TV One recently revealed that “News One Now with Roland Martin” finished as the number one cable news show in 2014 in its time slot among all African-American viewers. In comparison with broadcast television, the show still strikes with Black TV viewers, second only to NBC’s “Today” in the key demographics.
“The strong Black viewership of News One Now in our first year proves what we knew all along: African-American desire strong, compelling ad engaging news and information that speaks directly to them,” said Martin. “Whether it was Ferguson, voter suppression, Ray Rice or the Bill Cosby story, African-Americans want to hear the news of the day from their perspective and from voices they know and trust.”
The Houston-bred newsman’s appeal to Black viewers is exactly why Empowerment Radio Network wanted to partner with Martin.
“Roland Martin is the most significant voice in America for Black issues and he will now be distributed on the only 100% wholly-owned black talk radio network in America, Empowerment Radio Network,” said Anderson, Founder of Empowerment Radio Network.
In addition to being heard on his own radio show, Martin can be heard each Monday and Wednesday on the nationally syndicated “Tom Joyner Morning Show.” He previously hosted a weekend show for TV One called “Washington Watch with Roland Martin” and was a political contributor on CNN.
