To kick off the DVD/Blu-ray release of the hit Christian film “War Room,” Sony Pictures Home Entertainment hosted a brunch at the swanky Ginny’s Supper Club inside of celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson’s Red Rooster restaurant in Harlem.
Hosted by New York radio personality Liz Black, the brunch included a Q&A with “War Room” filmmakers Alex Kendrick and Stephen Kendrick; as well as performances by Damien Sneed & The Levites and “Sunday Best” star Latice Crawford.
A who’s who of New York influencers — among them singer/actor Chaz Shepherd (“The Game”), singer/songwriter Gordon Chambers, celebrity publicist Gwendolyn Quinn, media veteran Audrey J. Bernard, BET.com executive Torrence Glenn, singer/actress Yolanda Wyns and others — dined on decadent soul food while experiencing a spirited concert by Sneed and his singers.
“War Room” was the number one Christian film of 2015 . A breakout hit at the box office, the film was only expected to make $3 million in total in theaters but has grossed over $67 million to date.
The family drama focuses on the transformative power of prayer. The film centers on a seemingly perfect family who is led to a greater place in their faith by an elderly widow named Miss Clara.
Written and directed by The Kendrick Brothers (“Fireproof,” “Courageous”); the film stars New York Times best-selling author-turned first-time actress Priscilla C. Shirer, T.C. Stallings (“Courageous”), Karen Abercrombie (“Rose from the Dead”), Beth Moore (New York Times best-selling author) and comedian Michael Jr.
“War Room” has a running time of 120 minutes and is rated PG for thematic elements throughout. Already available on digital HD, the DVD and Blu-ray hits stores on Dec. 22.
