Actor Christian Keyes is back with the follow-up his 2015 literary debut, “Ladies Night.”
In time for Valentine’s Day, the Detroit-bred author has released “Dr. Feelgood.” The tome is his second book for Urban Renaissance/Kensington Books.
“This was initially a script that I wrote nine years ago into 2007. I wanted to write an intelligent, humorous, moving, romantic comedy that had heart, layers and levels to each character. Thankfully that’s exactly what happened,” Keyes told AlwaysAList.com.
Presented by New York Times bestselling author Carl Weber, “Dr. Feelgood” is a sexy, heartfelt story about the life of Dr. Phillip Gooden, a handsome and successful psychotherapist attempting to juggle patient problems, personal issues and dating woes without losing his own mind.
Nicknamed Dr. Feelgood by his female patients, Dr. Gooden treats his clients on issues ranging from infidelity, marital challenges, anger management and intimacy issues. Often using some unorthodox measures to help make his patients feel better, Gooden has to find a way to make himself feel good after a devastating breakup with his fiancé.

“He helps people change and solve the problems in their lives on a daily basis. His mistake comes in hiring his best friend Marc Collins who is also a therapist. Dr. Collins could be very effective and brilliant if he chose to, unfortunately he spends his therapy sessions trying to sleep with the hot patients,” the author explained. “Dr. Collins is in the office playing PlayStation games and Xbox, and he doesn’t dress or act like a medical professional. He doesn’t take the job seriously and eventually almost costs someone their life because of his lack of responsible professionalism.”
To see how the lives of the characters play out, readers will have to delve into the pages of “Dr. Feelgood” to get those answers. “I can’t wait for anyone who loves a great read, to have a chance to read it. The ‘Dr. Feelgood’ movie will definitely be following the book,” Keyes concluded.
In 2015, Keyes starred in “The Man in 3B,” a film produced by Weber’s Urbanbooks Media and Tri Destined Studios.
In addition to his literary endeavors, the 40-year-old talent will star in Bounce TV’s upcoming dramatic series, “Saints & Sinners” alongside Vanessa Bell Calloway, Clifton Powell, Gloria Reuben and Keith Robinson.
Keyes, who’s had recurring roles in recent years on ABC’s “Mistresses,” BET’s “Let’s Stay Together” and CW Network’s “Beauty and the Beast,” was named by Ebony magazine as one the 50 Most Eligible Bachelors in the U.S.
