“Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Phaedra Parks has confirmed that she did quietly file for divorce from her husband, Apollo Nida.
During an interview Sunday on Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live,” Parks revealed she has begun divorce proceedings and is optimistic her union will be legally dissolved by the end of April.
When Andy Cohen asked when she thought the divorce would be finalized, the 44-year-old attorney replied: “Hopefully in the next 45 days.”
Parks’ husband Nida is serving an eight-year federal prison sentence after pleading guilty to charges in a multi-million dollar fraud scheme. Cohen asked how her 37-year-old husband is handling the divorce, Parks offered: “When you lose this sweetness it’s hard. No one likes to lose all of this chocolate!”
Nida—Who previously served five years in prison for auto title fraud before marrying his reality star wife—was recently transferred to the same New Jersey prison that Joe Giudice, husband of “Real Housewives of New Jersey” star Teresa Giudice, is serving his sentence for fraud.
Despite initially objecting to her children Ayden, 5, and Dylan, 2, visiting their father in prison, Parks disclosed that she had a change of heart recently. “They visited Apollo, yes,” she confirmed. “It went well.”
Bravo cameras followed the family for part of the visit and will chronicle the journey on TV.
