Evelyn Lozada Releases Statement About Chad Johnson: “Domestic violence is not okay!”
NFL star Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson was arrested for domestic violence on Saturday night for allegedly attacking his wife, reality star Evelyn Lozada. Johnson allegedly head-butted Lozada during an argument after she confronted him over finding a receipt for condoms in their car.
Lozada, who stars on the VH1 series “Basketball Wives,” had lacerations on her forehead when cops arrived and fled to a neighbor’s house to get help after being assaulted by Johnson.
Since then, the 34-year-old wide receivers new NFL team the Miami Dolphins dropped him from the roster, and VH1 announced yesterday that they were “pulling” the couple’s “Basketball Wives” spin-off, “Ev and Ocho” from its schedule “and has no current plans of airing it.”
Lozada released a statement to AlwaysAList.com today via her publicist Danika Berry addressing the ordeal.
“It is with great sadness and much trepidation that I release this statement addressing the domestic violence incident that happened this past Saturday. I am deeply disappointed that Chad has failed to take responsibility for his actions and made false accusations against me, it is my sincere hope that he seeks the help he needs to overcome his troubles. Domestic violence is not okay and hopefully my taking a stand will help encourage other women to break their silence as well. I’m grateful to my family, friends and fans for the outpouring of support during this difficult time,” said Lozada.
