BeBe Winans: Celebrity Friends Come See Musical About His Life
BeBe Winans has premiered his debut musical, “Born for This: The BeBe Winans Story” at Alliance Theatre in Atlanta.
The production, which BeBe is producing alongside “Motown The Musical” director Charles Randolph-Wright, is a “hilarious and heart-warming journey toward self-discovery.”
The musical is a bio piece, showcasing the rise of siblings BeBe & CeCe Winans and how their careers took off after being invited to join Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker’s Praise The Lord Network television show. BeBe & CeCe became household names in the Christian community, adopted children of the Bakkers, would have huge crossover success as recording artists and become friends with megastars like the late, great Whitney Houston along the way.
BeBe’s nephew and niece, Juan and Deborah Joy Winans, take on the roles of him and CeCe in the musical; while singer/actor Desmond Sean Ellington takes on the roles of BeBe’s brother Carvin Winans and CeCe’s husband Alvin Love.

On July 1, the show moves to Arena Stage in Washington, DC (July 1 to Aug. 28) and then is slated for Boston in the fall (dates TBD).
Winans has hopes of taking the show to Broadway.
