Hollywood mogul Tyler Perry is branching out from Oprah Winfrey’s OWN Network and launching a new dramatic series for the TLC channel. TLC, like OWN, is owned by Discovery Networks.
Perry’s new show has a working title of “Too Close To Home” and is set in Washington, DC. The show will center on a young woman who achieves unparalleled success on the Washington political circuit, only to see it slip away when her affair with a married senator makes headlines.
The playwright will write, direct and executive produce the eight-part series, which happens to be TLC’s first scripted drama.
Casting for “Too Close To Home” has not begun, but TLC president Nancy Daniels reportedly indicated she wants the series “to have the cast reflect the country.”
