It appears having Rush serve double-duty in the afternoon may have been short-lived. The comic will no longer host “The Afternoon Rush” and has been replaced by veteran comedian Michael Colyar.
On Thursday, AURN announced that Colyar will now host opposite radio personalities Ebony Steele and Loni Swain. AlwaysAList.com reported in June that Steele, a former co-host of “The Rickey Smiley Morning Show” and the syndicated series “Dish Nation,” had joined “The Afternoon Rush” team.
A Chicago native, Colyar was the original host of BET’s first attempt at a late night talk show, “BET Live from LA” in 1998. The 59-year-old talent also appeared on TV shows like “Black-ish,” “Everybody Hates Chris,” “The Bernie Mac Show” and “The Parkers.”
The new “Afternoon Rush” with Colyar, Steele and Swain will broadcast live from Dallas, Texas on Monday through Friday from 3pm to 7:00 pm.
It was originally Loni Swain, Rudy Rush & Ebony Steele hosting “The Afternoon Rush”
