Procter & Gamble’s My Black is Beautiful campaign held an exclusive dinner during the Essence Festival in New Orleans.
The event was held at the Ace Hotel and was hosted by motivation speaker Lisa Nichols, featured a performance by Grammy nominee Gallant and a surprise appearance by actress/rapper Queen Latifah.
The chic cocktail party and dinner was attended by additional celebrities like “Power” star Naturi Naughton, “Rel” cast members Lil Rel Howery and Jess Hilarious, comedienne Loni Love of “The Real,” Influencer Gia Peppers, TV/radio legend Tanya Hart and others.

The theme for the My Black Is Beautiful Dinner was “Black Girls Go” and the campaign used the hashtag #BlackGirlsGo to chronicle all of its Essence Festival activity during the weekend.
In between the decadent meal and custom cocktails, Nichols offered her brand of self-help inspiration and had attendees stand and do an exercise where they acknowledged the existence of someone they had never met before at the dinner. For motivational moment was really impactful to some of those in attendance.
Inspiring women and the brothers that love them is right in line with the My Black is Beautiful mission of community-building. P&G’s MBIB is a program that was created in 2006 to help positively change the conversation around black beauty by addressing the societal and cultural stigmas associated with self-image.
