Added Value: Why The Lexus IS 300 Is More Than You Bargained For

If I based this test drive on looks alone, I’d be shouting the catch phrase of one of my favorite WWE wrestling Tye Dillinger when describing the 2018 Lexus IS 300: “10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10!”

You’d have to be blind to not find this sedan stunning. It has an assertive style with the prominent air intakes, its pinched grille and the sharp lines in its seductive body. It really looks like the perfect hybrid of luxury and sport and just tantalizing the eyes.

My 82-year-old Aunt Ann was particularly impressed when I picked her up in it for a day on the town before she moved from the Washington, DC area to Kansas City, Kansas. She did complain about the car’s low body build, but she loved riding around town in the “very nice car,” as she put it.

Well, the Lexus IS 300 is a “very nice car.” It’s as comfortable as it is attractive with pretty much any amenity you can imagine.

You just barely touch the gas and this car zooms off—not that I was doing too much zooming with Aunt Ann in tow. But when you are driving at higher speeds, the hushed cabin and its overall quiet ride add to the appreciation of this whip. While I find the engines in most Lexus vehicles in general to be strong, this one is turbocharged giving you that extra boost of acceleration when needed.

The model I tested was a white color, but the paint sparkled in the sunshine and just glowed. And Aunt Ann wasn’t the only person who found appreciate in this automobile.

I mentioned professional wrestling earlier and I actually had one in the car with me. Ring of Honor star Jonathan Gresham road with me into Downtown D.C. so that we could check out the street art.

Headed home in the heart of rush hour, we hit traffic and had a few stop and go moments on Interstate 395. But the comfort of this car and the safety features offered helped make navigating through traffic an easy, breezy commute.

In the city, you can get up to 22 miles per gallon in the Lexus IS 300; but take a trip on the highway and you’ll be impressed with this car’s 32 miles per gallon.

This is a luxury whip with the accents and outer decor to make it a statement vehicle. And you’ll see from my video when you look inside, this car is great inside and out.  It has every amenity imaginable – I love the retractable shade in the back mirror and anytime you can both heat and cool your seats, it’s a good thing!

Spin Control: The starting price on the 2018 Lexus IS 300 will run you $38,210 and you can get upper model trims up to about 43,995. I’d say you’re getting every piece of your money’s worth.
