Riding High: The 2018 Lexus NX 300 F Sport Is An Elevated Ride
If I were Lexus, my new slogan for my vehicles would be ‘Upgraded Everything,’ because with each encounter I’ve had test driving Lexus vehicles in 2018, I feel that’s their approach to vehicle design.
That sentiment remained when I tested their 2018 Lexus NX 300 F Sport. What is supposed to be their entry-level luxury crossover is far from entry level. The truth is, even their simplest models seem to embody an element of luxury whether it’s a sedan, sports car or SUV. This automotive manufacturer just seems to get it right!
The Lexus NX 300 F Sport is the perfect fusion of sportiness and crossover. And while it’s supposed to be the brand’s budget-friendly vehicle, nothing about what you get with this whip makes you feel like you’ve pinched pennies.
This car is fast. Like most Lexus vehicles, a led foot will certainly land you a ticket at some point in this car because you go from zero to spacecraft in the blink of an eye.
But the drive was smooth, confident and comfortable. It feels like a sedan with a higher view, and driving in sport mode on the highway was exceptional because of the car’s front and rear performance dampers and optimized suspension.
The NX 300 was perfect for back to back days of errand running – carrying boxes of wood and other home improvement items I was gathering to winterize my house.
And since it is a Lexus, it also was perfect for me attending a black-tie event at a high-end hotel downtown D.C. Even as the brand’s “budget friendly” crossover, it fit right in during the long line of fancy cars that waited to parked by the valet.
For amenities, the Lexus NX also comes with Lexus’ enhanced 2nd-generation Remote Touch Interface system. Onboard WiFi also now connects up to 5 devices and it comes with a 4GB complimentary one-year trial. You can also now add a $550 foot-activated stand-alone liftgate option if that’s on your wish list.
Favorite Features: Exterior Design and Vehicle Comfort
Least Favorite Feature: Lexus Remote Touch Interface is a large-size key pad system used to control a lot of functions on the car, mainly all the features on the entertainment and navigation monitor. It’s tough to operate, takes great focus and really isn’t user-friendly to me. I found myself frustrated quite often using it.
