Celebrating Your Story: Verizon Wireless Empowering With Power
Verizon Wireless hosted a brunch at New Orleans during the Essence Music Festival atfamed restaurant Dooky Chase to introduce their newest initiative, “Celebrating Your Story: Powering Your Network” campaign to media guests and tastemakers. Launched earlier this year, the program spotlights seven influential African-American leaders including actor Laz Alonso, gospel superstar Marvin Sapp, CNN contributor Dr. Steve Perry, DJ Beverly Bond, The Three Doctors (Drs. Sampson Davis, Rameck Hunt and George Jenkins) and sports figures Tia Norfleet and Malcolm Jenkins.
Alonso, who has starred in films like “Avatar” and “Jumping the Broom,” and Sapp, who has had hit singles with his gospel anthems “Never Would Have Made It” and “He Saw The Best In Me,” were on hand for the brunch and shared their personal stories of triumphs and tragedies and how it shaped them.
CNN contributor Roland Martin was also in attendance and Dooky Chase owners Edgar “Dooky” Chase II and wife Leah Chase came out to greet the attendees. Verizon gifted all guests with their new Verizon Pantech Breakout 4G.
