Elmo Puppeteer: New Accuser Files Suit & Original Accuser Recants Again
The drama for the man behind the Elmo character just won’t end.
The 54-year-old “Sesame Street” star released a statement saying he was “relieved that this painful allegation has been put to rest!”
Well, apparently it hasn’t!
Yesterday news broke via TMZ that Stephens wants to recant his initial statement and give back the alleged $125,000 he received.
According to the report, Stephens supposedly claims he was coerced into the settlement agreement by his attorneys, Andreozzi & Associates, P.C., who happened to also represent one of the accusers in the Jerry Sandusky case.
“[The accuser] wants it to be known that his sexual relationship with Mr. Clash was an adult consensual relationship. [The accuser] will have no further comment,” his lawyers said after the settlement was reached.
Now the 23-year-old aspiring model—who has a criminal past—is meeting with lawyers about trying to undo the settlement and revisit his original allegations that Clash slept with him when he was 16-years-old.
That’s not all, now a second guy named Cecil Singleton has come forth with claims that he slept with Clash when he was 15-years-old.
Singleton, who is now in his 30s, has filed a lawsuit against Clash claiming that the two met on a gay phone chat line in 1993 when he was 15 and Clash was 32.
The new accuser further claims that Clash “trolled gay telephone chat line rooms to meet and have sex with underage boys” and that he
“groomed [the accuser] to gain his trust by, among other things, taking him to nice dinners and giving him money.”
In the suit filed in New York, Singleton claims that although the alleged sex occurred nearly 20 years ago, he didn’t take action until now because he “did not become aware that he had suffered adverse psychological and emotional effects from Kevin Clash’s sexual acts and conduct until 2012.”
Singleton is demanding more than $5 million.
