Quiet as a mouse — that’s how I’d describe the 2013 Kia Optima Hybrid! It glides, it rides and it’s smooth as silk on the road. And thank God it’s a beauty to look at, because you would never hear it coming — it’s just that quiet!
This sleek, sophisticated third model year of this transformed Kia vehicle really does make it a standout in the mid-size sedan market. And it’s not just great to drive, but it’s bonafide eye candy as well.
Heard the line in the Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter commercials: “I can’t believe its not butter?” Well, during the entire time I drove the Kia Optima, onlookers kept saying to be: “I can’t believe that’s a Kia!” Some people likened it to a Mercedes, others though it was a high-end Nissan.
Let’s talk about the gas mileage first. When I got the vehicle, it had 500-plus miles of available gas ready. That’s 39 highway miles and 34 city mpg. I drove the car here, there and everywhere and never filled up — not one single time!
Every modern efficiency imaginable was available in this new Optima, but among my favorites were the panoramic sunroof; the outside mirrors with turn indicators; heated steering wheel and the UVO In-Vehicle Infotainment System. It boasts a 2.4-liter four-cylinder hybrid engine, which really is the greatest perk of them all!
Spin Control: With a price tag of $32,500 — that’s how much the fully-loaded version I had cost — there’s car is more than worth what you’re going to pay!
