Fans of We TV’s “Mary Mary” reality show have been wondering for some time if the gospel duo by the same name were headed towards a breakup.
On the show, it appears that the sisters, Erica and Tina Campbellhave hit an impasse as it pertains to balancing their careers and families. While the tension seems to be at a fevered pitch now on the hit reality series, the challenges of not being on the same page professionally have been building for some time.
Recently, Mary Mary hosted The Stellar Gospel Awards in Nashville, Tenn. and when probed about breakup rumors, Erica confirmed to DaGospelTruth.com that she and her sister were planning “to do some things apart from one another.”
Erica, who is married to music producer Warryn Campbell, is actually in the early stages of recording a solo CD. She got to test the waters performing as a solo artist on the 2012 Verizon How Sweet the Sound tour last fall.
“Mary Mary isn’t going anywhere,” she reminded. “Mary Mary isn’t breaking up and you will definitely hear more Mary Mary music in the future.”
When asked would she be working with her hit-making husband – the mastermind behind the Mary Mary sound – on her debut solo offering, Erica replied: “Well, of course!”Mary Mary member Tina, who is married to “Tonight Show with Jay Leno” percussionist, Teddy Campbell, is planning to work on some outside ventures of her own. No word on whether a solo CD is in the plans for Tina as well.
