Wendy Williams: Extending Season Because Of Ratings Boost

Fans of talk show host Wendy Williams will be seeing more her!

The producers of her “Wendy Williams Show” announced today that the show will add two more months of new shows to her fourth season.

The additional episodes are a result of Williams’ talk show receiving stellar ratings during February sweeps, where it beat out some of its competitors and recorded a 47-percent increase in local ratings.

The expanded season of original episodes will extend the show’s production into June and July.

The 48-year-old former shock jock is no fan of vacations and regularly tells viewers that after about seven days of resting with her husband and son, she’s usually ready to come back to work.

“I have the greatest fans in daytime TV, and I’m so excited to be giving fans more fun throughout the summer,” Williams said in a statement. “If it were up to me, we’d have a show every day, all year long!”

During the summer months, many syndicated talk shows go on hiatus and lose viewership because of repeats. The producers of her show believe that airing two more months of new episodes will help with the show’s continued growth.

The “Wendy Williams Show” is up 35-percent in key demographics and ranked fourth among the key demographic of women 25-54. The show averages a 1.1 rating and seven share.

“Wendy is absolutely thriving,” said Debmar-Mercury co-presidents Ira Bernstein and Mort Marcus in a statement. “Expanding the number of original episodes will allow us to continue the program’s incredible momentum well into the summer.”
