Postponed: Cee-Lo Green Reschedules Las Vegas Production
Pop sensation Cee-Lo Green is postponing his upcoming “Loberace” show in Las Vegas. The 38-year-old singer has to push his headlining run at Planet Hollywood back until 2013 due to scheduling conflicts with NBC’s “The Voice.” Cee-Lo has worked as a judge on the NBC competition series alongside fellow singers Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton since the show premiered in April 2011.
In a statement released, Cee-Lo offered his “sincerest apology” for having to postpone the show, which was originally set to launch on Aug. 29 at Planet Hollywood’s “Peepshow” theater.
“I hope you can still join me in Vegas next year, so I can properly and finally introduce you to my brainchild,” said the Atlanta-bred singer.
Cee-Lo’s “Loberace” was slated to be a “mind-twisting magic and sexified showgirls” that evoked memories of the flamboyant staging of the late Liberace’s performances in Sin City. In addition to the scheduling conflict with “The Voice,” apparently the staging of “Loberace” turned out to be more elaborate than producers initially thought and more time was needed to adequately assemble all of the fancy effects.
Speaking of “The Voice,” the competition series just received four Emmy nominations including one for “Outstanding Reality-Competition Series!”
