Back For More: BET’s “Comic View” Returning

Black Entertainment Television is re-launching its long running series, “Comic View.”

The announcement was made during BET’s annual Upfront presentation, which is the event where television networks present forthcoming programming to media.

The reboot of the series will be produced by James Dubose and premiere in the fourth quarter of 2013.

The original version of “Comic View” aired on BET from September 1992 to December 2008 and is credited with helping to launch the careers of many successful comedians.

The show was originally hosted by “Original Kings of Comedy” funny man D.L. Hughley. Comics Cedric the Entertainer, Sommore, Don “D.C.” Curry, Sheryl Underwood, Bruce Bruce, Rickey Smiley, Gary Owen, J. Anthony Brown, Kevin Hart, Rodney Perry and others hosted in the years following.

Veteran comedians Laura “Miss Laura” Hayes and Reynaldo Rey served as co-hosts on the show.

No word on who will host the re-launch of “Comic View” this fall.
