Hollywood Hook-up: Oprah Winfrey Partners With Wanda Sykes
Now that Oprah Winfrey’s OWN Network is officially a success, the TV titan continues to expand the networks original programming throughout the summer.
OWN has just announced that it will partner with comedienne Wanda Sykes on a new series called “Wanda Sykes Presents Herlarious.”
“Wanda Sykes Presents Herlarious” will be taped in front of a studio audience at Harpo Studios in Chicago, the former home of “The Oprah Winfrey Show.” The one-hour original comedy specials will premiere on Saturday July 13.
Sykes’ “Herlarious” will showcase several emerging female stand-up comics including Tracey Ashley, Gloria Bigelow, Marina Franklin, Carmen Lynch, Andi Smith, and Dominique Witten. Comedienne Kym Whitley, star of OWN’s hit show “Raising Whitley,” will also make a special appearance on the series.
Emmy Award-winning Sykes has been featured in three stand-up comedy specials of her own – “Wanda Sykes: Tongue Untied for Comedy Central,” “Wanda Sykes,” and “Sick And Tired and I’ma Be Me.”
This is her first time doing a special where she showcases other comics.
