Ruben Studdard: Ready To Be “The Biggest Loser”

“American Idol” winner Ruben Studdard is gearing up for a new run on reality TV, this time on NBC’s “The Biggest Loser.”

The 34-year-old vocalist has battled with his weight all of his life. In 2010, he lost more than 80 pounds after becoming a vegetarian and regularly exercising.

Now, the man dubbed “The Velvet Teddy Bear” by Gladys Knight wants to get his weight under control once and for all. This fall, he’ll compete on the NBC weight loss series.

The Alabama-bred entertainer released his last CD, ‘Letters from Birmingham’ in March 2012.

Studdard also divorced his wife of four years, Surata Zuri McCants in April 2012.
