Since 2009, Ford has been the premiere brand sponsors of the Essence Festival.
This year, the iconic automotive company best known for vehicles like the Taurus, Flex, Mustang, Expedition, Focus, Explorer and Edge was on hand for the festivities in New Orleans and was showcasing their new Ford Fusion – a vehicle that has become a top seller for the Detroit-based car manufacturer.
Ford presented a both at the Essence Festival Expo Hall in the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center where attendees could sign up to test drive the Ford Fusion and see celebrities interviews during a live broadcast by their festival partner, SiriusXM satellite radio.
In conjunction with their partnership with the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Race for the Cure, Ford abandoned their signature blue and went pink during their first day in the Essence exhibit hall as part of their Ford “Warriors in Pink” campaign.
Embodying the soul of Detroit, the Ford Superlounge at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome over the three-day holiday weekend included performances by Mint Condition, Big Daddy Kane, Blackstreet, PJ Morton, Emeli Sandé, Mali Music, F.Stokes, Anthony David, and Kourtney Heart.Ford also hosted a private dinner for media guests, influencers and Ford executives at Café Adelaide inside the Lowes Hotel.
On the last night of the festival, before headliner Beyoncé took the stage, Ford used their “Celebrity Matchmaker” Boris Kodjoe to give away a new Ford Fusion to an Essence Festival guest – that’s better than any gift bag given out the entire weekend!
