On Hold: Revamped “In Living Color” Being Held By Fox
Fox Network entertainment chief Kevin Reilly had disappointing news for fans anticipating the reboot of the sketch comedy series, “In Living Color.” During his executive session at the Television Critics Association (TCA) summer press tour at the Beverly Hilton Hotel this week, Reilly announced to the crowd that the revamped sketch comedy series “won’t air anytime soon.”
Series originator and host Keenan Ivory Wayans was scheduled to produce two half-hour specials based on his classic sketch comedy series and they were supposed to air this past spring. Reilly confirmed the specials had been shot, though they never aired on television.
“There’s a high bar, so don’t look for a new version of Jamie Foxx, Jim Carrey and Damon Wayans,” he told attendees.
The original version of “In Living Color” aired on Fox from April 15, 1990 to May 19, 1994 and helped launch the careers of Foxx, Carrey, David Alan Grier, Kim Coles, Ali Wentworth, Tommy Davidson, Jennifer Lopez, T’Keyah Crystal Keymáh and the entire Wayans family clan.
