ABC has released the first photo of the new quartet of hosts that will be in place when “The View” returns this fall.
Whoopi Goldberg, new co-host Jenny McCarthy, Sherri Shepherd and Barbara Walters are all featured in the newly released image.
40-year-old McCarthy joins season 17 when “The View” returns on Sept. 9 as a replacement for comedienne Joy Behar, who announced she was leaving the show after 16 years earlier this year. This is McCarthy’s first daytime talk show, though she was once had a development deal with Oprah Winfrey to do a talk show that never materialize.
Oscar winner Goldberg, 57, returns as the moderator for the talk show for a sixth year. Actress/comedienne Shepherd, 46, returns for her sixth season on the chat show as well.
Season 17 will serve as a farewell season for the show’s creator and former executive producer Walters, who at 86-years-old has decided to retire.
“The View” will continue to have rotating guest co-hosts during season 17 and they work to fill Elizabeth Hasselbeck’s chair. The proud Republican co-host departed the show this season as well and will be an anchor on Fox News Channel’s “Fox and Friends” morning show starting this fall.
Reportedly, ABC is looking to fill Hasselbeck’s seat with a young, Latina co-host.
