A-List Accommodations: The NYLO New York City
Southern charm and innovative industrial design greet you once you enter the new NYLO New York City. This trendy boutique hotel, located on 77th and Broadway (formerly On The Ave Hotel), pays tribute to the Roaring 1920’s with its Jazz Age-themed decor.
The lobby of the NYLO New York City has engaging ambience that effectively fuses the feel of a masculine home den with vibe of sophisticated city nightlife. There are fire places and appropriately paired mixes of leather and velvet and metal. The decor also features wood panels and brick walls, well-pointed benches and Chesterfield-style sofas. One of my favorite lobby features is the red lacquered reception desk—one of the best check-in desks I’ve ever seen. And did I mention there’s a red piano in the lobby? Great for a photo op!
The rooms in the NYLO New York City are modern and feature contemporary design features that combine a mix of grays and blues with vibrant combinations of accent colors. Each room features original artwork from local artists. Several rooms, like the one we stayed in, have balconies with breathtaking views of the city. The guest rooms feature big, comfortable beds and heavenly walk-in showers.
If you’re hungry, there are three dining options located within NYLO New York. Northern Italian cuisine is served at Serafina. You can access Serafina from inside the NYLO. There’s also RedFarm, which features Chinese dim sum; and LOCL Bar, a social lounge.
NYLO New York City is located in an Upper West Side neighborhood that offers a friendly social and shopping scene for leisure trips, and allows for easy access to many prime Big Apple destinations for business travelers. The property is a short walk from Lincoln Center, the American Museum of National History, the Beacon Theater and Central Park. There are also two subway stations (72nd Street and 79th Street) in walking distance to make maneuvering around the city a lot easier.
The staff was friendly, the property was hip and the location was ideal for doing everything I needed to do. Consider NYLO New York City for your next trip to New York.
