I felt like anything but a fool testing the 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT during the week of April’s Fool. I actually felt like I was April’s Cool, as Hyundai’s Elantra GT is an awesome fusion of sporty style, solid performance and interior comfort.

Hyundai has experienced great success with its top-selling Elantra model. This fifth generation vehicle has worked through its kinks and is offering a vehicle that will continue to make it a bestseller for the brand.

I used the Hyundai Elantra GT for some city-sleeking. I drove around Washington, DC and navigated around the Maryland suburbs in this compact sporty sedan full of fly features.

This vehicle is fun yet practical, offering versatility in its offering and a solid ride. Despite being small, the Elantra GT packs a little punch and has lots of personality. This vehicle with European-inspired features and styling and is powered by a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 148 horsepower and 131 pound-feet of torque with a choice of 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission.

Like most cars in its peer group, the Elantra GT is front-wheel drive. The vehicle uses lighter materials such as aluminum and plastic on engine parts helps to keep the car relatively lightweight. Lower curb weights help Elantra achieve solid performance and excellent fuel economy. Whether you drive the automatic or the manual, the Elantra GT offers great fuel economy with 27/39 mpg (manual) and 28/39 mpg (automatic).

The Elantra GT offers more cargo space because of its revamped design. The 2013 model has a more conventional hatchback design as opposed to the previous Elantra Touring that was a boxier station wagon.

The vehicle is comfortable and roomy for a compact vehicle.

Spin Control: The Hyundai Elantra GT is definitely a standout in its class and boasts stylish exterior design, plenty of interior features and outstanding fuel economy. More so, the GT model is roomy, which makes a compact vehicle with a price tag around $18,500 one sweet bargain.
