Documentary Divas: “20 Feet From Stardom’s” Game Day Spotlight
As part of the promotional campaign leading into the 2014 award show season, RADiUS/The Weinstein Company is kicking the publicity campaign of its critically-acclaimed documentary “20 Feet From Stardom” into overdrive.
The studio will have the film’s stars Merry Clayton, Lisa Fischer, Judith Hill and Darlene Love sing the National Anthem at the 100th Rose Bowl on New Year’s Day 2014.
The live vocal performance by the four sought-after background singers will mark the first time in a century that one of the Rose Bowl participants’ band is not performing the ‘Star-Spangled Banner.’ The game will have Stanford versus Michigan State.
The Jan. 1, 2014 performance by Clayton, Fischer, Hill and Love at the Rose Bowl will be exactly one week before the nominations voting ends for the Academy Awards on Jan. 8, 2014.
“20 Feet from Stardom” is a compelling documentary by award-winning director Morgan Neville showcasing the untold true story of the backup singers behind some of the greatest musical legends of the 21st century.
The film, which made $4.7 million at the box office in the U.S., runs 91 minutes long and will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray on Jan 14, 2014.
