Hosting Honors: Wayne Brady Takes Over BET Award Show

BET Honors has landed a new host and a new tape date.

The annual award show, which recognizes distinguished Africans Americans performing at exceptional levels in the areas of music, literature, entertainment, media, service and education, has tapped comedian Wayne Brady to host the 2014 show.

Brady performed a musical tribute to all of last year’s honorees at the BET Honors, reworking the lyrics of The Gap Band’s ‘Outstanding.’

BET Honors usually tapes on Martin Luther King Jr. weekend but BET has now moved the show until Feb. 8. It will still take place at the Warner Theatre in Washington, DC. The show will actually air on Feb. 24 at 9 pm ET on BET.

In addition to hosting BET Honors, Brady also hosts the daily game show “Let’s Make a Deal” and appears on the revamped CW sketch comedy series, “Whose Line Is It Anyway?”

“Being Mary Jane” star Gabrielle Union has hosted BET Honors for the last five years.
