Real Political: Reality Star Omarosa Is Running For Office
Earlier this year, “American Idol” season two runner-up Clay Aiken announced he was running for political office. Now, Omarosa Manigault is the second reality TV superstar this year to reveal political pursuits.
“The Apprentice” and “Celebrity Apprentice” star has formally announced that she is a candidate for the special election for Member of the Board of Education for Los Angeles’ District One.
The one-named TV star will contend against 10 other candidates for the spot.
Despite developing a reputation as a bad girl on TV, Omarosa became an ordained minister in 2011. She now co-pastors the Weller Street Missionary Baptist Church in Los Angeles.
The 40-year-old talent, who actually worked at the White House for Vice President Al Gore during the Clinton Administration prior to becoming a TV star, said she’s running for the School Board position in the L.A. Unified School District to better the lives of children.
Despite not having children, Omarosa is the Educational Director for the L.A. Clippers Youth Camp and she’s helped women and children at an L.A. mission. She also just got her certification as an LAUSD teacher.
In addition, Omarosa has continued to raise money and resources for Chicago’s Sue Duncan Children’s Center, a safe haven for children on the South Side of Chicago that her late fiancé Michael Clarke Duncan was involved with.
The election takes place on June 3.[divider]
