The Right Stuff: Vanessa L. Williams Joining “After Midnight”

Vanessa L. Williams is gearing up for her latest turn on the Great White Way.

The 11-time Grammy nominee will perform a five week run in the hit Broadway musical, “After Midnight.”

Williams will begin her stint in “After Midnight” after Toni Braxton and Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds leave the show. She’ll headline alongside “After Midnight” star Dulé Hill.

The 50-year-old former star of “Desperate Housewives” and “Ugly Betty” will perform in the musical from April 1 through May 11.

Williams made her Broadway debut in “Kiss of the Spider Woman” in 1994.  She’s since gone on to star in productions like “Into the Woods,” “Sondheim on Sondheim,” and “The Trip to Bountiful.”

“After Midnight” celebrates Duke Ellington’s years at the Cotton Club nightclub in the 1930′s in Harlem.

“American Idol” winner Fantasia Barrino originated the role in the production, and Grammy winner k.d. lang is currently in the show.

The show plays Tuesday through Sundays at New York’s Brooks Atkinson Theatre.
