Mississippi Mass Choir: Songs That Celebrate 25 Years In Music

The Mississippi Mass Choir is gearing up for their latest CD, “Declaration of Dependence.”

Recorded live at the Thalia Mara Hall in Jackson, Mississippi, this will be the famed choir’s 10th album and culminates their 25th anniversary.

AlwaysAList.com was on hand when the Mississippi Mass Choir recorded their latest opus, which includes guest appearances by Le’Andria Johnson, psalmist Lecresia Campbell and Bishop Neal Roberson.

The choir’s most famous member, Mosie “Mama” Burke, wowed the audience with an energetic song written by Dorothy Love Coates titled ‘That’s Enough.’

The first single from “Declaration of Dependence” is a song penned by Stan Jones titled, ‘God’s On Your Side.’ The track features Jones and powerful vocal presentation by “Sunday Best” winner Johnson.

Jones also shared production duties on “Declaration of Dependence” with Jerry Smith, David R. Curry Jr. and Jerry Mannery.

The DVD includes a special tribute to Frank Williams, the group’s founder and executive director who died in 1993. To celebrate his honor, the Mississippi Mass Choir performed a medley of their classic hits like ‘Having You There,’ ‘Lord We Praise You,’ ‘Near The Cross,’ ‘Just Can’t Tell You How Good He’s Been,’ and ‘Grace and Mercy.’

The CD/DVD release by the Mississippi Mass Choir will be available on June 3, 2014.
