One Night Only: Wendy Williams Headed To Vegas For Comedy Debut
Talk show host Wendy Williams is trying her hand at standup comedy for one night only.
As part of The Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas’ “Lipshtick: The Perfect Shade of Stand Up” series, Williams will headline a 70 minute standup show on Friday, July 11 at 10pm.
The 49-year-old former radio shock jock has never performed standup comedy, despite her having hosted the weekly Wednesday night “Wendy Williams Comedy Experience” at New York’s famed The Laugh Factory several years ago.

Williams is one of 14 women scheduled to perform for The Venetian’s “Lipshtick: The Perfect Shade of Stand Up” series. The other headliners include Loni Love, Caroline Rhea, Lisa Lampinelli, Joy Behar, Susan Essman, Jen Kirkman, Natasha Leggero, Wendy Liebman, Jennifer Coolidge, Heather McDonald, Rita Rudner, Iliza Schlesinger and Whitney Cummings.
This is not the first time the New Jersey-bred TV talent has ventured into an area that she has no experience in. Last summer, Williams made her theatre debut playing Matron “Mama” Morton in the long-running Broadway musical, “Chicago.” In the musical, the National Radio Hall of Fame inductee had to sing several numbers, something she has never done before.
Williams shared on her daytime talk show on Tuesday that she had already began “working on jokes” for her standup debut, and at the advice of former “The View” host Behar, she wants the theater cold and the patrons “liquored up” before her show.
