I sprung into summer in the 2014 Kia Cadenza. During my time test driving Kia’s all new full-sized sedan, I drove it to the Dutch Farmer’s Market in Upper Marlboro, Maryland to stock up on all my favorite summer fruits and vegetables.
I went and picked up my mother and as we drove through the Maryland suburbs, the smooth ride of the Kia Cadenza made navigating down the long and windy Pennsylvania Avenue a peaceful journey through the woods. The sun beamed through the car’s moon roof, adding the perfect accent to a picturesque Saturday afternoon in Kia’s luxury sedan offering.
The Korean-bred Cadenza continues to elevate the consumer impression of Kia, a once-dismissed auto brand that’s becoming a true contender in the automotive space. This large sedan packs a 3.3-liter V6 with 293 horsepower along with a six-speed automatic.
The new Kia Cadenza comes in two trim levels: the everything-you-can-imagine Premium and even more lavish Limited. (Check out the various things featured in the vehicle in our inside look video below.)
The car was decent on gas, boasting fuel economy numbers at an EPA-estimated 22 mpg combined–that’s 19 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway.
A sturdy sedan, its safety features include antilock disc brakes; front and rear side airbags; side curtain airbags; traction and stability control; and hill start assist. Like most modern vehicles, a rearview camera and rear park assist are standard, while blind-zone and lane departure warning systems are optional.
Because of its size, we were able to fill the trunk and some of the back seat with our bags of grocery goods from the market. Not only did the Cadenza offering a wonderful, comfortable ride for my mother and I; but its size made sure carrying all of our things easy.
Spin Control: With an average stick price of about $21,000, the 2014 Kia Cadenza is really a bargain for all it offers.
