Mary Mary & Kirk Franklin

AlwaysAList.com has confirmed that the 2014 Stellar Gospel Music Awards is moving from its annual Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend taping in January to April 5, 2014.

A rep for Central City Productions, Inc. told us on Thursday that the annual gospel music award ceremony has definitely switched dates, however it is yet undetermined if it will remain in Nashville, Tenn.

The show, which typically tapes at Nashville’s iconic Grand Ole Opry House Theater, is considering some other destinations for 2014.

Nashville has not been the only home of the Stellar Awards. Having originated in Chicago in 1985, the show has taped in eight different cities including Atlanta, Houston and New York, to name a few.

The change of date and possible change of citycomes on the heals of Central City Productions CEO, Don Jackson, announcing earlier this year that the Stellar Awards had made changes to its eligibility criteria.

To be eligible for a Stellar Awards in the past, the eligibility for entry was from July 1 of the previous year to June 30 of the current year. Now, for the 2014 awards the eligibility will allow projects released between from July 1, 2012 until September 30, 2013.
