Grammy Award-winning bassist Marcus Miller and several members of his band were injured after their tour bus overturned Sunday on a busy highway in Switzerland.

Authorities there confirm that the driver of the bus was killed in the accident.

The German-registered private bus tipped over as it drove into a bend on the A2 highway in central Switzerland and came to a rest on its side, police in the canton (state) of Uri told the Associated Press. The bus was carrying 13 people – two drivers and 11 members of the Marcus Miller Band.

The band was on its way from Monte Carlo to the Dutch town of Hengelo, the next stop on their tour where they was scheduled to perform on Monday.

The driver who was at the wheel at the time of the accident sustained fatal injuries. Police spokesman Karl Egli said the 12 passengers were injured and taken to hospitals, but none had life-threatening injuries.

The 53-year-old jazz bassist was discharged from the hospital later Sunday, as were fellow band members Alex Han and Kris Bowers, but some other band and crew members were being kept in hospitals overnight, according to a post on Miller’s official Facebook page.

Miller’s manager, Bibi Green posted a new message on Facebook to update fans.

“I’m relieved to have spoken with everyone in the band and crew who are all still in Switzerland. All but 4 have now been released from the hospital. They are bruised and sore, but they will all be fine. The love and support coming from all of you, everywhere has been overwhelming. Thanks from Marcus, the band, crew and me to all of you.”

Police have not determined what caused the accident. No other vehicles were apparently involved.

The two-time Grammy winner is touring Europe in support of his August 2012 release, “Renaissance.”

In addition to having 13 solo albums released since 1982, Miller has worked with music greats like Luther Vandross, Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, Mariah Carey, Herbie Hancock, Aretha Franklin and Wayne Shorter, among others.
