Wondering how Aretha Franklin maintains her girlish figure? Well, the Queen of Soul gets regular cardio in by speed walking in Walmart believe it or not.
“I have a walking regimen — about three times a week, at least a mile or so. I walk the Super Walmart’s, the biggest ones. If people are in the aisle and the store happens to be crowded that day, I go to other aisles,” Franklin told the New York Post.
The 72-year-old Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee lost a large amount of weight after a mystery illness sidelined her in 2010.
In addition to the Walmart workouts in her hometown of Detroit, Franklin loves walking the streets of midtown New York City as well.
“I’m on Broadway when I’m in New York, and I walk Seventh Avenue. I like to walk to where I used to live, on 53rd and Seventh Avenue,” she shared.
If you see the diva in the midst of her street strut, don’t bother asking her for autographs or photographs. Franklin said when she’s exercising she likes to stay focused.
“I keep walking. I don’t like to break my stride,” she confessed.
