The Apollo Theater has announced its first Harlem Healthy Soul Festival – a new community initiative focused on family health and wellness.
Sponsored by Coca-Cola, the cultural celebration will feature performances by SWV, Noel Gourdin, Doug E. Fresh, John Michael, Angelique Sabrina and other not-yet-announced entertainers. Harlem Healthy Soul Festival will also have performances by Apollo Amateur Night winner Shaliek, Harlem Seeds, Dance Theater of Harlem and the kids group, Little Club Heads.
Dr. Bob Lee of New York’s WBLS 107.5 FM will host the festival.
The free, day-long festival will take place on Saturday, June 1 starting at noon and will transform 126th Street behind the Apollo into a block party filled with music, entertainment, celebrity performances, health and educational resources and family fun.
Harlem Healthy Soul Festival will offer families an array of activities such as health screenings, nutrition-focused cooking demonstrations, celebrity performances, and exercise modules. EmblemHealth and Manhattan’s Physician Group will also provide free health screenings, and Charles LaSalle of The City Gym Boys will also be on hand as well.
