In the upcoming film “Blue Caprice,” actor Isaiah Washington will play John Allen Muhammad, the Beltway DC sniper who terrorized DC, Maryland and Virginia in October 2002.
The Alexandre Moors’ film will chronicle Muhammad’s shooting spree on the DC Metropolitan area with his young accomplice, Lee Boyd Malvo. The film will show the months leading up to the shootings, piecing together clues in an attempt to understand the circumstances and motives behind their horrific actions.
The pair killed 10 random people in the fall of 2002 before being caught by the police. Though authorities were initially on the lookout for a white van, Muhammad and Malvo were finally apprehended in a blue Chevy Caprice.
They were both tried and convicted, with Muhammad being executed by lethal injection in 2009.
Washington, who had his contract terminated by ABC after using a gay slur towards a co-star on the set of “Grey’s Anatomy,” also stars in Russ Parr’s forthcoming movie “The Under Shepherd.”
The 49-year-old actor, who guest starred on VH1’s “Single Ladies,” has four additional film roles on tap for 2013.
