The controversial Whitney Houston biopic will make its debut on Lifetime on Jan. 17, 2015.
Houston’s family has spoken out against the film, which will be directed by the late pop superstar’s friend and former “Waiting To Exhale” co-star Angela Bassett.
Lifetime has released the first official trailer for the film, which actually includes music by Houston unlike the network’s troubled Aaliyah biopic.
The movie stars former “America’s Next Top Model” runner-up turned actress Yaya DaCosta as Houston, and features the voice of R&B star Deborah Cox who will sing all of the Houston classics used in the movie.
The cast also includes Arlen Escapeta as Houston’s former husband Bobby Brown and Mark Rolston as Clive Davis.
