Billboard magazine has released a list of the Top 10 girl groups of all time.
Motown legends The Supremes reign supreme on at the top of the list. Best known for hits like ‘Baby Love,’ ‘Stop! In The Name Of Love,’ ‘Come See About Me,’ ‘You Keep Me Hangin’ On,’ and ‘Where Did Our Love Go,’ the group’s indelible impact on music has not been matched by anyone says the trade magazine.
Pop trio TLC is in second position. Made up of Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins, the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas, the group spent a decade ruling the charts with mega-hits like ‘No Scrubs,’ ‘Waterfalls,’ ‘Ain’t 2 Proud 2 Beg’ and ‘Creep.’ In addition to being one of the music industry’s best-selling girl groups of all time, they recently had a career resurgence thanks to their successful VH1 movie, “Crazy Sexy Cool: The TLC Story.”
In third position is Destiny’s Child. Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams are not only one of music’s bestselling and chart-topping groups, but they’ve each had individual success as well. With hits like ‘Say My Name,’ ‘Survivor,’ ‘Independent Women,’ ‘Bills, Bills, Bills’ and ‘Bootylicious,’ its no wonder Beyoncé chose to reunite with her band mates during her 2013 Super Bowl halftime show.
In the fourth spot is the sister group, The Pointer Sisters. Made up of Anita, Ruth, Bonnie and June Pointer, The Pointer Sisters blended R&B, pop, disco, country and rock and scored timeless anthems like ‘I’m So Excited,’ ‘Jump (For My Love),’ ‘Automatic,’ ‘Fire’ and ‘Fairytale.’
