Marvin Sapp has landed his fourth number one single with ‘Yes You Can,’ the first single from his eighth solo CD, “You Can Live.”
“You Can Live,” released via RCA Records, made its debut at number one on the Billboard Gospel Charts after it was released on June 2.
The chart-topping success follows the pastor of the Lighthouse Full Life Center Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan recent elevation to Bishop within the Global United Fellowship (GUF) under the leadership of Presiding Prelate, Bishop Neil C. Ellis.
During a rousing homily rich with guidance and encouragement, Sapp, along with four other Bishop Designates, were told that “contradictory to any elevation you have received, this is the crowning moment of your ministry…it is the apex of hierarchical ascension in the Christian church.”
The homily was delivered by GUF’s Global Leader of Pastors, Bishop Leonard Smith, who exhorted the Bishops Designate to “never become untouchable.”
After a Prayer of Guidance led by Co-Consecrator Bishop Kenneth Ulmer, GUF’s Vice Presiding Bishop-At-Large, Sapp was vested according to the Order of Bishops and presented with insignias including the cross, the stole and the ring.
“I am humbled that Bishop Neil C. Ellis saw something in me that I didn’t see in myself,” said the newly appointed Bishop Sapp.
In his new role as Bishop, Sapp will oversee the work of a little over 70 Global United Fellowship churches in his district and ensuring that all of these churches are properly informed within GUF and walking in alignment with the goals and tenets of GUF.
