R&B diva Karyn White is making a comeback with a new CD, “Carpe Diem” that hit stores today!
After a 17-year hiatus, the singer best known for the ladies’ anthem “Superwoman” returns after leaving the industry to focus on motherhood and launch an interior design firm and real estate business.
“The reason I left the music business was to focus on raising my daughter Ashley,” White told AlwaysAList.com. “Devoting my time to her was the most important thing to me, especially while she was growing up. Now that she’s attending college at Howard University I can focus on re-launching my music career.”
The 47-year-old vocalist surprised fans when she released the buzz single “Sista, Sista” virally earlier this year.
White’s new single, “Seize The Day,” is currently number 37 on the Urban Adult Contemporary Radio and is quickly rising. The music video for the song has also been surfaced to video music outlets and features “Young and the Restless” and “Family Matters” star Darius McCrary.
White was also featured on Monday, Oct. 22 on TV One’s docu-series “Life After.”
Prior to taking her hiatus from the music business, the Los Angeles-bred singer released three albums on Warner Bros. — 1988’s platinum-certified “Karyn White,” 1991’s gold-certified “Ritual of Love,” and 1994’s “Make Him Do Right.” She is also known for hits like “Love Saw It” and her duet with Babyface, “Secret Rendezvous.”
White is overwhelmed by the response from fans after her extended hiatus and hopes to meet as many of them as she can while on the road supporting “Carpe Diem.”
“I’m so happy to be back doing what I love to do, sing,” White expressed. “I can’t wait to get out on the road so I can personally thank all of my friends and fans who have supported me on Facebook, Twitter, my website & other social media outlets even before I hit the airwaves. I’m so grateful for this second chance and I am encouraging everyone to dream and seize the day! ‘Carpe Diem.'”
