“Necessary Roughness” star Mehcad Brooks is following in the footsteps of actors like Jamie Foxx, Terrence Howard and Robert Downey Jr. and launching a music career.
The 31-year-old actor is gearing up to make his music debut with a CD that will showcase his singing skills.
During an interview on VH1’s “Big Morning Buzz Live,” Brooks disclosed that music has always been an aspiration of his and he feels the time is right to pursue his lifelong dream.
“I had two near death experiences and both times, one time I had a parasite from Africa and another time I had a car collision, I was in the hospital. I looked back at my life and I didn’t regret anything except not putting this love that was in my heart out there, which was music,” he revealed during the interview.
The Austin, Texas-bred heartthrob, who has also appeared on shows like “True Blood,” “Desperate Housewives” and “The Game,” said his vocal ability has never been a secret to those who know him personally.
“I had been doing it privately close to a decade,” he shared, before adding: “It’s good. It’s really good.”
Brooks did not want to rush the music, explaining: “I just want to come out the right way.”
But now that he feels the timing is right, the Calvin Klein model believes consumers will have great appreciation for what he is offering.
“There’s a right way and a wrong way, I want to come out the right way,” he concluded.
Brooks did not offer a formal release date or a record company partner for his forthcoming CD.
