Epic Records is gearing up to release new music from Michael Jackson.
The division of Sony under the leadership of chairman L.A. Reid will drop a new CD by the late King of Pop called “Xscape.”
The posthumous album boasts eight new tracks never released or heard before. There will also be a deluxe edition that includes all of the sourced recordings by Jackson in their original form.
Reid worked in tandem with Jackson’s estate to collaborate on the project. He describes the process of completing these songs by the international superstar as “contemporizing” the original references.
“Modern music and artistry would look and sound completely different if not for the groundbreaking contributions Michael Jackson gifted to the world,” remarked L.A. Reid. “Michael left behind some musical performances that we take great pride in presenting through the vision of music producers that he either worked directly with or expressed strong desire to work with. We are extremely proud and honored to present this music to the world.”
Timbaland was the lead producer for the album, overseeing production on Jackson’s unfinished works. Additional producers on the CD include Rodney Jerkins, Stargate, Jerome “Jroc” Harmon and John McClain.
Jackson’s last release before his death was the 2001 CD, “Invincible.” That album featured hit songs like ‘You Rock My World’ and ‘Butterflies.’
“Xscape” hits stores on May 13.
