Blast From The Past: Kris Kross, Da Brat, Jagged Edge & more

Kris Kross

Remember Kris Kross, Da Brat, Xscape and Jagged Edge? Well those acts will be apart of Jermaine Dupri’s celebration to culminate 20 years of his record label So So Def Recordings.

Dupri and many of the artists who rose to success on So So Def were on hand today in Atlanta at City Hall to announce his All-Star Anniversary Concert on February 23 at the Fox Theater.

Other So So Def artists like singer Dondria, rapper Bonecrusher and Dem Franchize Boyz joined Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed and Dupri’s father, music executive Michael Mauldin to formally announce concert plans.

One-half of the R&B group Xscape — sisters Tamika Scott and LaTocha Scott — were also at the press announcement. The other two members—Tameka “Tiny” Harris, wife of rapper T.I., and “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Kandi Burrusswere noticeably absent.

“Not only is it an honor to be able to stand here 20 years after our very first release in 1993 – Xscape’s number one single ‘Just Kickin It’ – but it’s truly an achievement that we can bring everyone back together to celebrate over two decades of music excellence. We also acknowledge 1992 as the year when So So Def Productions introduced to the world Kris Kross, who had everyone jumping,” said Dupri.

The All-Star Anniversary Concert will be preceded by a series of events, including a private VIP dinner, a star-studded Anniversary party and a pre-concert reception. A 20-song “Best of So So Def” compilation CD is also in the works for a June release.

So are just Latocha and Tamika going to perform at the anniversary concert? I know Kandi hss beef Latocha with but Tiny doesnt hve beef with any of the 3 ladies…right?. Is TI still not letting her her perform AT ALL? Tiny does have such a great voice afterall, a shame we never get to hear it.

what is going on with dondria? she had( does she still have?) such a YT following and I liked her song “you’re the one” but her cd didnt do well.
