Former “Private Practice” star Audra McDonald got married this weekend to Broadway star Will Swenson.
McDonald, a five-time Tony Award winner, wore an Esosa dress during the wedding ceremony that took play at their home in Croton-on-Hudson, New York.
The couple originally met in 2007 and got engaged this past New Year’s while vacationing in Puerto Rico.
This is second marriage for both actors, who also have children from their previous relationships. McDonald, 42, has a daughter, Zoe Madeline, 11. Swenson is the father of two sons, Bridger, 11, and Sawyer, 8.
After four seasons of starring as Dr. Naomi Bennett on Shonda Rhimes’ ABC drama “Private Practice,” McDonald left the Los Angeles-based series to spend more time with her daughter in New York.
McDonald returned to Broadway in January of this year in the Tony Award-winning Broadway revival of Gershwins’ “Porgy and Bess,” which recently wrapped its historic 322-performance run.
McDonald’s role as Bess in the production landed her a record-tying fifth Tony Award.
